Meet Saybrook Landing's Housekeeping and Laundry Manager

Saybrook Landing is thrilled to introduce our new Housekeeping and Laundry Manager, Mandy Tyson! For many of you, Mandy is a familiar face, as she has been a valued part of our team for nearly 14 years, dedicating her time between housekeeping and laundry. Mandy brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for caregiving to her new role, and we couldn't be more excited to have her lead our team.
A proud 2000 graduate of Conneaut High School, Mandy began her journey in healthcare at the age of 19 as a Developmental Training Specialist at The Maples. From there, she worked in Home Health Care before earning her STNA certification and dedicating a decade to long-term care. After feeling burnt out, Mandy found a fresh start at Saybrook Landing in housekeeping and eventually transitioned to laundry, where she’s been making a difference ever since.
When asked what has kept her at Saybrook Landing for so many years, Mandy shared,
“It’s like a family. Saybrook Landing is like my second family. I like the staff and my residents. I wouldn’t be anywhere else.” Despite the challenges of burnout, her love for helping others brought her back to healthcare.
“I still wanted to be somewhere where I could make a difference. I still love helping people, and Saybrook Landing gave me an opportunity to still do that but in a different way,” she explained.
Outside of work, Mandy enjoys a full and vibrant life with her husband, Robert. Together, they have a blended family of six children, five grandchildren (with one more on the way!), three dogs, and three cats. In her spare time, Mandy loves watching movies and playing video games with her children and grandchildren. Every summer, she looks forward to camping trips and her family reunion in Kane, Pennsylvania.
Mandy also has some wise advice for anyone considering a career in healthcare:
“If you have patience and love people, it is definitely worth it!”
