Caregivers Corner: Meet Jamie Burckhartte

Saybrook Landing proudly spotlights Jamie Burckhartte, a remarkable individual at our nursing home who consistently makes a difference every day. Jamie's dedication, compassion, and positive impact enrich the lives of those around her. Thank you, Jamie, for your outstanding contributions!

Jamie graduated from Saint John's High School back in 2003. She joined the Army Reserves in 2004 in order to obtain a college degree while serving our country part-time. While training with the Army Reserves, Jaimie learned 92 Lima, which is a Petroleum Lab Specialist, and she did that for about 8 years.



Although Jamie did not serve any wartime, her unit did complete a CULEX, Spring Culminating Exercise, for two weeks. Her unit prepared all year for this two-week exercise where they mimic being in the war and act out battles day and night. When asked what she took away the most from her time in the Army Reserves, she stated, "I built strength I never knew I had, leadership skills, and improved my teamwork skills. It was a great experience."



During her time in the Reserves, Jamie settled on a career path to become a nurse. She had always looked up to her mom who was a nurse at Trumbull Memorial Hospital when she was a kid. She always thought it looked fun and interesting while still being able to help others. Jamie went on to graduate as an LPN in 2010 from ATECH-Knoedler School and then went on to further her education and complete the bridge program offered by ATECH in 2019 to become an RN. Jamie now lives here in Ashtabula with her son, Avery, and their Dachshund, Frank.
