Cruisin' for a Cause: Saybrook Landing's Car Show Raises Funds and Spirits
August 9, 2024
Saybrook Landing held its Annual Car Show, and it was a huge success! We welcomed over 40 cars, and the event was filled with classic car enthusiasts, delicious hot dogs, chips, drinks, a lively Chinese auction, and a 50/50 raffle. The highlight of the day was the awarding of first, second, and third place prizes for the car favorites, with Jimmy Bish taking home the first-place trophy for his stunning 1969 Nova. We were also treated to fantastic entertainment by Michael Kennedy and Steven Zook, who kept the energy high throughout the event.
This year's car show was particularly special as it marked the fourth annual event organized by Saybrook Landing's activity department. The tradition began as a way to keep our residents connected with family, staff, and the community, especially after the onset of COVID-19. We found that hosting an outdoor event was the perfect solution to allow social interaction while maintaining a safe environment.
The event also served a greater purpose this year. The $600 raised from the 50/50 raffle and over $600 from the giant rooster ticket sales will benefit the Saybrook Landing activity fund and support the family of Christine Randolph, a beloved nurse from our facility who recently passed away. We’re proud to continue this tradition, not only to raise funds but to show our residents and the community the importance of enjoying life, family, and friends.
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event a memorable one!
